Turning pink for sepsis awareness
Several local public and landmark buildings will light up pink this weekend to raise awareness around the dangers of sepsis, a life-threatening condition resulting from extreme response to infection.
From dusk and overnight (Friday-Saturday, September 13-14) Cavan General hospital, the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Felim, Cavan Courthouse, the Hotel Kilmore, Council offices, and the Slieve Russell Hotel will light up in pink.
Later this month staff at Cavan General Hospital will once again recognise World Sepsis Day focusing on the importance of early detection and swift treatment in an attempt to educate the wider public on this potentially lethal condition.
