Crime group behind jeep thefts
Gardaí believe an organised crime group may be behind a spate of high-valued jeep thefts that have occurred the local garda division, following the latest incident in Kingscourt.
Two jeeps were stolen from a carpark behind the old SuperValu in the town between 12pm and 3pm on August 28. The vehicles taken were a grey Toyota Landcruiser and a blue Toyota Hilux.
Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses, and are particularly interested in speaking with the occupants of a black coloured Honda Accord believed to have been seen driving nearby at approximately 1pm.
Gardaí suspect the thefts form part of a broader pattern after three similar vehicles were reported stolen in the Drogheda and Dunleer areas within a 48-hour period in July.
Officers are urging the public to remain vigilant, particularly those selling vehicles online or living in rural areas.
Anyone with information is asked to contact their local garda station.
