It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan as reported on RIP.ie in the last few days.

Leon Briody

Corratubber, Ballyhaise, Cavan, H12C6H9

Leon Briody, Corratubber, Castletara, Co. Cavan, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday September 11th 2025.

Sadly missed by his loving parents Alan and Diane, his brothers Fionán, Caolán, and his sister Allie, his grandparents, Eileen and Patsy Briody and Rita McEntee, his uncles and aunts, Barry (Sharon), Shane (Siobhán), Dylan, Tracey (Tomas), Michael (Aisling), Kathleen (Enda), Patrick (Michelle), and Declan (Laura), his cousins, grandaunts and granduncles, relatives, football friends from Ballyhaise Football Club, his classmates from St Patrick’s National School, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at home on Friday 12th September, from 4pm to 8pm and on Saturday 13th from 4pm to 8pm. House private at all other times.

Requiem Mass on Sunday at 1pm in St Patrick’s Church, Castletara followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

A one way system will be in operation arrive via Corratubber, Cootehill road, Cavan and depart via Castletara or Castlemanor roundabout.

Martin McEVOY

Coastguards' Cottages, Gyles' Quay, Riverstown, Dundalk, Louth / Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Formerly Dublin Road, Ballyjamesduff, unexpectedly. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Eithne. Beloved brother of Simon, Fiona and Dave.

He will be sadly missed by his sorrowing brothers, sister, sisters-in-law Paula and Lucy, brother-in-law Stuart, niece and nephews Frank, Jim Peter and Megan, his extended family and his close friends in Gyles’ Quay.

Reposing in the Serenity Room of Quinn’s Funeral Home, Dundalk (A91 KW52, entrance on Castletown Road) on Friday, September 12th from 5pm-8pm. Removal on Saturday, September 13th via Gyles’ Quay, to St. Mary’s Church, Lordship (A91 HP76), arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Lordship Cemetery.

Lennon (Derrynoose Co Armagh) September 10th 2025 as a result of a tragic R.T.A Aoife RIP Devoted wife of Karen and dearly beloved daughter of Seamus (Jamie) and Adele, cherished sister of Patrick (Michelle) and Sean (Micheala). Dear daughter in law of Ann and Kevin.

Her remains will repose at her home 68 Drumnahavil Rd Derrynoose BT60 3HL from Thursday evening until removal on Saturday to arrive at St Mochua's Church Derrynoose for 2pm Funeral Mass.Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by her loving wife, mummy & daddy, brothers, parents in law, brothers in law Andrew (Aisling), David (Aisling) and Stephen (Katie- Mae), nieces and nephews Jamie, Grace, Lila, Frankie, Luca, Jessie, Caoimhe, Aoibhinn, Daithi, Fionn and Odhran, aunts and uncles, cousins and the wider family circle and many friends.

The death has occurred of Catherine (Kitty) Scotson (née Cunningham). Ardee Road, Carrickmacross & formerly Dunleer, Co. Louth. 11th September 2025. Peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her cherished family.

Predeceased by her parents Jim & Bridget and her brother Patsy.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by her beloved family; her husband Billy, her daughters Leona (Brendan Goodman), Sharon (Oliver Martin) & Louise (Ed Jacoviello) and her son Liam (Fiona), her much-loved grandchildren Kelsey, Laura, Gary, Ian & Owen and her great-grandson Lenny, her sisters Teresa, Maura, Betty, Patty & Dolly and her brothers Vinny & Jimmy, her extended family, friends and neighbours.

Kitty will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, Carrickmacross, A81 D328, on Friday, 12th September, from 5pm until 8pm.

Kitty's funeral cortège will leave the funeral home on Saturday, 13th September, proceeding on foot to St. Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
