Celebrating thirty years at Cavan Leisure Centre

Three year old Tundi Agnew joins in the 30th anniversary celebrations at Cavan Leisure Centre. Adrian DonohoeCavan Leisure Centre has been providing recreational facilities in Cavan Town for the past 30 years.
They recently celebrated the milestone with an open day with reduced membership packages and a fun day for all at the centre.
Opened in June 1995, the team also provided spot prizes, taster exercise classes, promotions, goody bags, tea and coffee.
The day was also an opportunity to show off the leisure centre's brand-new range of equipment recently installed in the refurbished gym.
They now have Speedflex machines, CV machines, all new resistance machines and free weights. The centre has various fitness classes including Pilates, yoga, aqua, dance, exercise to music, circuits, core, spin and more.
"We have a lot of classes going on," Cavan Leisure Centre Manager Ann Coyle told the Celt.
All of Cavan Leisure Centre's aqua classes are now full according to the manager. They are booked through their new app called Cavan Leisure or through Cavan Sports Partnership. Facilities also include a steam room, jacuzzi and sauna available at the poolside. "After the gym or a swim you can use those facilities."
The leisure centre now has 750 members who are "of all ages".
"We have babies in mothers and toddlers right up to eighty and ninety years olds.. We have a wide range of classes running.
"There is something for everybody."
"We're a facility in the town that's very community-based so we're very inclusive. We have people with disabilities, people of all nationalities," said Ms Coyle.
The facility is also home to a state-of-the-art sports hall where badminton, basketball, judo, martial arts, pickleball and volleyball takes place. Birthday parties are also hosted in this space. Meanwhile, outside, the facility boasts and astro turf pitch and a bowling green too. Cavan Leisure Centre also manages the FAI pitch at Tullacmongan.
