Housing conference to take place in Slieve Russell
Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) National Social Housing Conference will take place in the Slieve Russell Hotel next week.
The two day event will take place next Wednesday and Thursday (October 15 and 16) and will take the theme of Maintaining Momentum – Delivering Homes for All.
The event will also include the 2025 Community Housing Awards which is a platform to demonstrate innovation and sustainability in local authority, AHB and LDA-led public and affordable rental housing projects across the country.
There are two nominees from Cavan and one from Monaghan on the shortlist of 31 from around Ireland for the awards.
In Cavan, Elm Park, which is under the Housing with Supports category has been nominated, along with St Brigid’s under the Regeneration Project section. Both housing schemes are delivered in Cavan Town by Cavan County Council.
Speakers at the event will include President of ICSH, Tina Donaghy, CEO of ICSH Donal McManus, CEO of the Housing Agency Martin Whelan, CEO of Respond Aoife Watters and Senior Property Development Manager at Dublin Simon Community Rory O’Moore.
A number of speakers will also share their personal lived experience of engaging with various approved housing bodies (AHBs) and their services.
This year there will be a particular focus beyond general needs and ensuring housing
delivery for all.
There are several topics due to come up for discussion including building success for disability housing, increasing supported housing to address homelessness, delivering homes and infrastructure in rural and island communities, housing and health, impact of changing design standards on supported housing, actions for addressing anti-social behaviour in AHB schemes, diversifying funding – delivering homes for all, achieving excellent governance - learnings and insight from regulation in the sector.
