Four charged after €383k seized in Dublin and Leitrim searches

All four to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) this morning.

Gardaí have charged two men and two women, all aged in their 30s, in connection with the seizure of €383,000 in cash following searches in North Dublin and Leitrim earlier this week.

The individuals had been detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 after gardaí intercepted two vehicles in North Dublin on Tuesday, October 14, with simultaneous searches searches carried out at four residential properties in both North Dublin and Leitrim.

The operation, which took place was conducted by personnel from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) as part of ongoing investigations targeting organised criminal activity under Operation Tara.

All four are now scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) at 10:30am this morning, Friday, October 17.

The two vehicles were intercepted in North Dublin at around 8pm, at the same time as raids were carried out at four residential premises in North Dublin and Co. Leitrim.

Along with recovering €383,000 in cash, gardaí also seized a money counter, and several mobile phones.

Operation Tara is the lead operation under an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021 which aims to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks—international, national, and local—engaged in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, and supply of controlled drugs.
