Senator’s video gets big response from 109x Dublin bus users

A VIDEO, calling on Cavan people to report their issues with capacity on the 109X bus service to Dublin garnered 46,000 views in just a few days.

Sinn Féin Senator Pauline Tully says she made the video because she wants to tackle the problem, which, she has been highlighting for months, “head on” this time.

The Cavan-based rep says she has been contacted on “multiple occasions” by commuters, including elderly people, who have been left stranded at bus stops. Travellers have reported waiting as numerous packed buses pass their stop.

In the past, Senator Tully raised the 109x service in both the Dáil and the Seanad; with the National Transport Authority; and directly with the Minister of Transport.

Capacity

She said the only response she ever received was that ‘would monitor capacity’.

“Clearly they are not monitoring capacity though, or if they are that seems to be all they are doing instead of making the much-needed changes to address the issues with this route,” Senator Tully said.

In the video, which is posted on her Facebook page, Senator Tully asks people to email and tell her their experience of using the 109X for work, college or hospital appointments.

Since the online call-out Senator Tully has received emails from people sharing their stories on how the capacity issues with this service affect them. She has since responded to those people asking if she can share their stories, saying the “amazing” response shows people want to resolve the issue once and for all.
