Beard shave for Kevin Bell Trust
A beard shave fundraiser is being organised for next month, in memory of the late Dylan McCahey from Magheracloone.
His Cavan-based family want to raise funds for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust with a special event in Magheracloone Community Centre on December 6.
Dylan (25) tragically lost his life on May 17 last in Portugal. “The family are extremely grateful to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust for bringing Dylan home,” said his cousin Emily Phillips-Sheridan. “Which is why we were eager to organise a fundraising event for the trust.”
The event will take place in the Magheracloone Community Centre starting at 8pm with live entertainment, music and singing - along with beard shaves, legs and chest waxing.
Dylan’s uncle Michael Sheridan is one of the people currently growing his beard for this cause. “It’s a bit itchy, but it's for a good cause,” he said.
Michael is selling sponsorship cards and asking people to write down a colour on the cards for a draw to determine which colour to dye his beard before the event. The Lavey man admits he would even dye it gold and green if the “luck of the draw” pointed towards the neighbouring parish’s colours.
The Castlerahan Vintage Club has kicked Michael's sponsorship off with a €500 donation towards Michael's beard shave and recently presented Dylan's family with the cheque.
Looking forward to the event in Monaghan, Emily said: “We want to celebrate Dylan’s life."
She has set up a revolut account for people who may prefer to donate that way: Anne Mc Phillips IE44 REVO 99036018778465. There will also be posters and flyers closer to the night. The family will be sharing more details on their social media pages.
