Concerns raised over 'deadly' barrier

Monaghan County Council has been asked to contact TII over concerns that a steel cable barrier, separating the “2+1” road on the N2 Ardee to Castleblayney Road Scheme, is “deadly, deadly dangerous”.

Sinn Féin's Noel Keelan made the call having witnessed the difficulty in identifying the barrier on a recent “foggy night”. He relayed his concerns to the executive when members of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD met in December.

“You’re barely able to see the barrier,” he said of the wire separating the alternating two-lane and one-lane sections on a two kilometre stretch.
