Chai Roasted Pears

A word from the chef: These halved pears, roasted in a homemade chai syrup, are perfect for those doing Veganuary. This is such a simple recipe, it takes only a couple steps to make a delicious versatile dessert.
INGREDIENTS
(Makes eight servings)
75 grams brown sugar
150 grams water
One cinnamon stick
5-6 cardamom pods
Three chai teabags
Four pears peeled and halved
METHOD
Preheat oven to 170°c (340°f) or 160°c (320°f) if fan assisted.
In a saucepan, add the brown sugar, water, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods and chai teabags. Heat on a medium heat for 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened.
Place the peeled and halved pears into a deep baking dish.
Remove the teabags from the syrup and pour the syrup over the pears.
Bake for 20-30 minutes until the pears have softened.
Serve warm.
Cooled leftovers can be transferred to an airtight container and kept in the fridge for up to five days.
