Ballyjamesduff without water due to burst main
UISCE Éireann crews are currently working to repair a burst water main outside of Ballyjamesduff which is impacting supply to the town.
The burst main occurred earlier this morning and was also affecting traffic on the Virginia Road leading out of the town.
According to the utility company, repairs are expected to be completed by mid to late-afternoon.
“Crews have had to temporarily turn off the trunk main leading to Ballyjamesduff in order to repair the burst,” they said in a statement.
“Available reservoir supplies are being used to supply the town while repairs are ongoing but some Uisce Éireann customers in Ballyjamesduff may be experiencing intermittent supply or reduced pressure this lunchtime as a result of this burst,” the water company’s statement also said.
The utility company said it “typically” takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
“However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges,” their statement explains.
Peter Gallagher, Uisce Éireann Water Treatment Operations Manager, thanked impacted customers for their patience while repairs are ongoing.
“We acknowledge the impact of a unplanned outage for our customers, and we wish to assure impacted homes and businesses that all efforts are being made to restore normal supply as quickly as possible,” he said.
