Annyalla pupil wins air quality poster competition

A fifth class pupil from Annyalla National School, Aria, has been selected as the winner of Monaghan County Council’s air quality–themed school poster competition.

The initiative, organised by the Environmental Services section, invited pupils from across the county to creatively explore the importance of clean air and the impact of pollution on local communities, helping to spark meaningful conversations about environmental responsibility.

As part of the campaign, Aria's winning design was also displayed on a billboard in Monaghan Town to help encourage greater awareness of the role we all play in keeping our air clean.

Environmental Services staff visited Annyalla National School to present Aria with her award. They were joined by Chief Executive Robert Burns and Director of Services Nial O’Connor, who took part in a Q&A session with Aria, her classmates, school principal, Ms Murphy, and fifth class teacher, Ms Carroll.

The discussion offered the children an opportunity to learn more about the work being carried out across County Monaghan to improve air quality, reduce pollution, and support healthier air for everyone.
