Man who murdered mum expected to stand trial in April

Alleged offences occurred at the family home in Kilnavart on January 11, 2025.

A Cavan man accused of murdering his mother and attempting to murder his father is due to stand trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin in April.

Danny Heyneman (32), of Kilnavart, Ballyconnell, is charged with the murder of Annie Heyneman and the attempted murder of his father, Henk Heyneman.

The alleged offences occurred at the family home in Kilnavart on January 11, 2025.

The case is listed for trial on April 13, with the case listed for mention at the Central Criminal Court on February 18.

Mr Heyneman was sent forward for trial in May of last year.

Cavan District Court was told that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to him being sent forward to stand trial.

At a subsequent hearing, the accused’s solicitor, Damien Rudden, applied for a psychological assessment of his client.
