Forestry one to one clinics 2026
CONSULTATIONS An independent look at how forestry can add to your farm’s income, sustainability and future
Teagasc’s Forestry Development Department has organised forestry clinics for people who are considering forestry as an enterprise in counties Cavan and Monaghan. These one-to-one consultations are being held on Tuesday, February 10 in Teagasc Office Ballyhaise, H12 E392 and Thursday, February 12 in Teagasc Office Monaghan, H18 Y563.
The current Forestry Programme 2023-2027 offers landowners attractive opportunities in relation to forest creation with a wide range of planting options available, from small areas of native woodland to combining trees and livestock through agroforestry, or forests grown primarily to produce timber while providing many other benefits.
A consultation with your Teagasc forestry advisor allows time to consider how growing trees might fit in with you overall farming objectives and how they can contribute to improving income, labour efficiencies and farm sustainability.
Forest owners are also welcome to attend these clinics to discuss their forest and ongoing management, including supports for existing forests.
Our forestry advisors provide independent and objective advice, empowering you to make informed decisions on many relevant issues including the following:
· Options under the Forestry Programme 2023-2027
· Available grants and premiums
· Interaction with other farm schemes, e.g. BISS, ACRES, organics
· How forestry can improve farm income and the environment
· How to apply and get the job done right first time
Consultations will be by appointment only and prior booking is essential. Contact the Advisory Office, Ballyhaise on 049 4338300 and the Advisory Office, Monaghan on 047 81188 to book your appointment. Please bring maps and other relevant information on the day.
