Loreto College students in French exchange programme
In an exciting new venture, 27 fifth year students from Loreto College, Cavan, along with their teachers, travelled to the French Alps on a language and cultural exchange funded by Erasmus+, the European Union's programme supporting education, training, youth and sport.
The group recently spent one week in the Savoie region of France, which is around one hour's drive east of Lyon in the town of Albertville. The town is known for having hosted the 1992 Winter Olympics, and its location is the perfect stepping-off point for every imaginable winter sport.
Students stayed with host families, many of whom have strong links with the mountains and the surrounding ski stations. At the centre of this initiative is a new partnership between Loreto College and Jean Moulin secondary school in Albertville. Students attended school and were fully immersed in French language, culture and school life.
Loreto students look forward to welcoming their exchange partners to Cavan for one week at the end of February and are currently planning a dynamic programme that will showcase Cavan and will give French students the opportunity to experience life in Ireland.
Loreto College has a long established partnership with EGW secondary school in Germany and is delighted to expand its exchange portfolio even further.
