Preview St Patrick's Day Parades 2026

If you're living in Cavan or Monaghan or anywhere near, then you are spoilt for choice for entertainment this St Patrick's Day with parades galore across the region. We bring you some of the highlights...

Newbliss

WHEN: March 14, at 5pm.

WHAT: Starting at Killevan National School and led by Aughnameullen East Community Pipe Band. Prizes for best float. Also street entertainment, pet farm, face painting, vintage vehicles, refreshments.

Ballybay

WHEN: March 14, at 5pm.

WHAT: The 40th St. Patrick’s Day parade. To celebrate this anniversary the parade should be bigger and better than other years. They would like every business to participate in some way – decorate your window, enter a float and get your flags out. The parade will commence from Carrick Road and proceed through the town, finishing at the Castleblayney Road.

Ballinamuck

WHEN: March 15 at 3pm.

WHAT: Residents asked to put up flags/bunting. All floats to meet at Bandra (N39 V2VO) no later than 2:15pm. Walking groups to meet in the 98 Memorial Hall (N39 Y7C1) no later than 2:30pm. Road closures in place from 2pm to 7pm; shuttle bus from Gaigue Cross to the village.

Clones

WHEN: March 16 at 7pm

WHAT: St Patrick’s Eve Parade by Clones Chamber of Commerce. Fireworks, parade and lights.

Killeshandra

WHEN: March 17 at 12:30pm

WHAT: Everyone is welcome to take part – enter a float, dress up, or simply come along with the family and enjoy the fun.

Cavan Town

WHEN: March 17 at 12.30pm

WHAT: Commencing from the Cathedral. After the parade enjoy all the fun of the fair as Murray’s Amusements are bringing their spectacular rides to Cavan Town. Location: behind the Courthouse, Farnham Street.

Oram

WHEN: March 17 at 12.30pm

WHAT: The shortest parade in the world, with free bangers and mash for everyone! Live music with Damien Davis on arrival at the Oram Centre. All individual, groups, vintage, businesses, floats and boats welcome.

Kingscourt

WHEN: March 17, commencing at 1pm on the Dublin road

WHAT: Enquiries please call 042 9667421.

Bailieborough

WHEN: March 17 at 2.30pm

WHAT: All participants are asked to assemble at 1.30pm. We will need more people to help out stewarding if anyone can spare a couple of hours. All floats welcome. Entry of floats is FREE.

Prizes for Best Comedy Float €1000; €100 for every juvenile club that enters the parade; Best Commercial Float gets a trophy; Best Window trophy. If your child would like to decorate their tractor, go-kart, bike or car, we’d love to see them join in the fun. Meet outside Bailieborough Library at 2pm.

Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Monaghan Town

WHEN: March 17 at 3pm

WHAT: Music from 2.30pm at The Diamond.

Carrickmacross

WHEN: March 17 at 3pm

WHAT: This year's theme is 'Our Community'. Prizes for Best Band and Best Float.

Arva

WHEN: March 17, at 3pm

WHAT: Massive €2,000 in prize money! Free entry for floats.

Kilnaleck

WHEN: March 17 at 3pm

WHAT: Everyone is encouraged to take part. There are prizes for the best floats; €500 for 1st place, €300 for 2nd and €150 for 3rd place.

Free face painting, a colour corner and balloon animals for children from 2.30-4.30pm in TM’s Alleyway.

The ever popular Junior Tractor Run will take place, anyone taking part is asked to assemble on Lower Main Street at 2.40pm.

No parking on Main Street and participants are asked not to throw sweets due to health and safety.

Ballyconnell

WHEN: March 17 at 3pm

WHAT: Participants are asked to meet at Smith’s Gala, Rathkeelan at 2:30pm. Prizes for floats across six different categories. Special request: if planning to give out treats, have someone handing them out.

Cootehill

WHEN: March 17 at 3pm

WHAT: Have you got a float, business, club, school group, vintage vehicle, tractor, sports team, or community group? Why not get involved and be part of the celebrations! All the little fairies and farmers taking part will receive a medal on the day. St. Patrick’s Day in Cootehill is always full of music, colour, laughter and community spirit.

Ballyjamesduff

WHEN: March 17 at 4pm

WHAT: Prizes for Floats, Children’s Entertainment and fun for all the family. All Welcome. Prizes for best floats.

Swanlinbar

WHEN: March 17 at 4pm

WHAT: All floats to assemble at Creamery Road from 3.30pm. Prizes for best floats.

Ballinagh

WHEN: March 17 at 4.30pm

WHAT: All schools, clubs, entertainers, and groups are welcome to participate. Guinness World Record holder and Paralympian Shane McLoughlin will be at Ballinagh Community Centre car park after the parade from 5pm onwards.

Newtowngore

WHEN: March 17 at 4.30pm

WHAT: Newtowngore's 5th parade. No charge for floats but please confirm by Wednesday, March 11 - details on Newtowngore St. Patrick's Day Parade Facebook page. Prizes for top three best judged floats. Entertainment and raffle with lots of spot prizes.

Mullagh

WHEN: March 17 at 5pm

WHAT: Assembly from 4.30pm at Mullagh Sports Centre. Prizes for Best Local Float, Best Comedy Float and Overall Best Float.

Mountnugent

WHEN: March 17 at 5.30pm

WHAT: Non motorised parade, fancy dress, pedal powered, and novelty floats. Starts at Scoil Bhride.

Oldcastle

WHEN: March 17 at 12 noon.

WHAT: Floats, music, and community groups, with prizes for participants. Full of colour and open to all clubs, bands, teams etc and it’s FREE to enter.
