Early morning blaze in Cootehill

Fire crews from Cootehill and Cavan Town were dispatched.

The area has now been cleared and traffic is flowing as normal after a blaze at a local commercial premises in Cootehill early this morning.

Fire crews from Cootehill and Cavan Town were immediately dispatched to Séan's Diner on Market Street, after the alarm was raised shortly before 7:30am.

Braving intense heat and dense smoke, firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus battled the blaze from multiple angles.

Residents and passersby were evacuated from nearby areas as a precaution, with many watching anxiously as the brave crews worked tirelessly to contain and quell the outbreak.

A spokesperson for Cavan Fire Service confirmed that by mid-morning howeever the fire was fully contained, and emergency services confirmed that no injuries were reported.

“At approximately 7.27am today, fire crews from Cootehill and Cavan Town were alerted to a fire at a commercial property in Cootehill. Teams wearing breathing apparatus brought the fire under control and managed to prevent the fire spreading to adjoining properties.”

The surrounding area has since been “cleared”, with traffic restored to “normal”.
