Cocaine haul worth thousands seized in Cavan

Cavan gardaí have struck a significant blow against local drug dealing activity, seizing thousands of euros’ worth of suspected cocaine during a series of intelligence-led operations across the county earlier this week.

In Cavan Town, officers, alongside members of the division drug squad, swooped on a vehicle parked outside a local fuel station. A search of the vehicle revealed a stash of cocaine, and further examination back at Cavan Garda Station uncovered even more, bringing the total estimated value to €1,500.

The drugs have since been sent for forensic analysis, and the man arrested, age in his late 20s, was released without charge.

The man involved is understood to be known to gardaí, with a history of violent crime, as well as for possession of drugs for sale or supply.

The March 16 seizure happened on the same day as officers raided a property located in the Arva area, recovering a smaller quantity of cocaine from the residence.

Again, the individual involved is understood to be known to gardaí.
