Fifty-five new homes sought for Cavan Town
South of Ireland Crushing Ltd has unveiled plans for a 55-home development near Cavan Town.
The application, now before Cavan County Council, factors in the development of lands at Gortnakesh, nestled between the established Fort Village and Willow Ridge communities.
The development, spanning just over three hectares, follows the path of a similar scheme approved nearly two decades ago.
Though this time, the developer says the design has been fundamentally reworked, with homes and roads carefully aligned to the natural contours of the land.
Plans include a mix of two-bed, three bed and four bed homes of varying designs.
A total of 97 carparking spaces is also proposed.
The development would be accessed via the existing road network serving the Fort Village and Ringview housing estates, with the N55 national route situated approximately 250 to 300 metres to the east.
In addition to the residential units, the application provides for associated site works, including internal access roads, footpaths, landscaping, boundary treatments, retaining walls, and connections to services.
A landscaped green buffer zone is also planned between the proposed housing and a protected historic fort located on the land.
A Natura Impact Statement will be submitted as part of the application.
A decision on the application is due by May 18.
