Monaghan booked their place in the Ulster U-20 Football Championship quarter-finals with a comprehensive win over Fermanagh in Tempo on Wednesday night. A more cohesive attacking display by Monaghan saw them rack up 3-23, with the goals coming from Shane O’Connor, Canice Murphy and Matthew Finn. Mattie McDermott kicked four two-point frees for Fermanagh, but Max McGinnity led ten Monaghan scorers with 0-8, while Murphy and Finn contributed 1-3 each.

An injury to Luke H McKenna was a rare downside of an otherwise productive night for Monaghan, who welcomed Max Maguire back onto the pitch during the second half.

Paul O’Connor’s side advance to a local derby with Cavan, who finished second in Group B after a final-round draw with Down.
