Protestors march in Cavan Town against high fuel prices.

Protestors to march around Dublin Road roundabout this evening

Traffic is building in Cavan Town this evening as a group of protestors march continuously around the Dublin Road roundabout in the town.

Earlier, they marched from Cavan Town centre out to the roundabout in protest at high fuel prices and calling for the government to do more to ease the pressure on motorists, farmers, contractors and hauliers.

Some of them, who were involved in an earlier blockade at the Dublin Road roundabout, decided on the march as the next wave of the campaign.

They are unhappy with measures announced by Government yesterday to extend excise relief on fuel to the end of July. They say they do not go far enough to address the crisis being experienced by ordinary people.

The earlier blockade was lifted just after lunchtime.
