Government launches AIReady.ie to upskill one million people in AI
Minister Smyth encourages Cavan and Monaghan to “lead the way in AI literacy”
The Government has launched AIReady.ie, a new national platform aimed at helping upskill one million people in artificial intelligence.
The initiative provides free, bite-sized online courses designed to give learners across Ireland practical AI skills that can be used in work, study and everyday life. The platform is accessible on smartphones, tablets and laptops, allowing users to learn flexibly at their own pace.
Developed by SOLAS in partnership with the National Skills Council, AIReady.ie is intended to make AI education more accessible and inclusive, regardless of prior experience or technical background.
At launch, the platform offers four introductory courses focused on foundational AI literacy. These are tailored specifically for older people, sole traders, farmers and individuals returning to the workforce. Each course takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
Speaking at the launch earlier this week, Minister Niamh Smyth said: “Through my work at the Department of Enterprise, I've seen first-hand how transformative the AI opportunity can be, and equally, how important it is that no one gets left behind. AIReady.ie is our commitment to making sure every citizen has the skills to embrace AI safely and confidently."
She added that the first four courses available are specifically tailored for older people, sole traders and farmers. "I really encourage everyone across Cavan and Monaghan to make the most of this resource. We aim to upskill one million people in AI through this platform. I’d love to see Cavan and Monaghan lead the way in AI literacy in Ireland.”
