50 years of CCÉ Éamonn Ó Muirí in Scotstown
Members of CCÉ Éamonn Ó Muirí, Scotstown Comhaltas, recently celebrated a very special milestone with a hugely successful Golden Jubilee Gala Concert, marking 50 years of music, culture, friendship and community within the branch.
The celebration proved to be a wonderful evening of music, song and dance, with a wide variety of talent taking to the stage throughout the night
The concert also provided an opportunity to reflect on the early days and formation of the Scotstown branch, with many fond stories and memories of years gone by shared during the celebrations.
Representatives and friends from Comhaltas branches near and far also travelled to join in the occasion and help mark the milestone.
Guest speaker Séamus Mc Cormack delivered very strong words of encouragement on the night, speaking warmly about the importance of preserving and promoting Irish music, song, dance and culture for future generations.
His address acknowledged the tremendous work carried out within the branch over the past 50 years and the importance of continuing to nurture young talent into the future.
Well-deserved presentations were also made on the night to a number of worthy recipients in recognition of their contribution, commitment and dedication to the branch over many years.
CCÉ Éamonn Ó Muirí extends its gratitude to local presenter and MC Gráinne Mc Elwain, who excellently guided the evening’s proceedings, the local community for their continued support over the years and their generous sponsors, Scotstown GAA Club; as well as the musicians, volunteers, committee members and all those who supported the event.
A limited number of copies of the commemorative booklet celebrating the history of the branch are still available to purchase in McMahon’s Shop and Scotstown Pharmacy.
