Cavan and Monaghan Towns rank among top 10 in IBAL survey

Monaghan and Cavan Towns ranked among the top ten cleanest towns in this years Irish Businesses Against Litter survey placing second and eighth respectively.

Monaghan Town was 'cleaner than European norms' meanwhile Cavan was graded 'clean to European norms'. Both were among forty large towns or cities surveyed.

On Monaghan's success, the survey team stated they have "come to expect" such "excellent" results from the county town. They placed fourth in the last survey.

"Not only were there seven top ranking sites, but some which had been heavily littered in previous IBAL surveys had improved significantly."

"Broad Road Car Park is a lovely towncentre car park environment with colourful bedding and planting.

It also praised the waterside environment of Peter’s Lake; just moments away from the busy shopping environment.

"It’s a million miles away from the hustle and bustle once you are by the lake."

Cavan Town had "no very heavily littered sites this time around" and achieved an "excellent result." Cavan placed 19th in the previous survey and have achieved huge success this time around.

With so many top ranking sites, the report stated "there are a few which deserve a mention" naming the residential area of Drumnavanagh which was "very much deserving of the top litter grade", The Bring Centre and the Town Hall environs.

"The latter was particularly freshly presented and maintained, with all elements in very good condition."
