Mullahoron Country Music Festival returns
Mullahoran Country Music Festival returns this weekend with a fantastic line up for all ages in what organisers believe is one of the best venues in the country.
Irish country music singer Cliona Hagan will open the festival with some of her fan favourites including ‘The Cowboy Yodel’ and ‘Apple Jack’. The Tyrone woman will then pass the mic over to Michael English who will keep the jivers on the floor with his fitting ‘Friday at the Dance’ and ‘Ding Dong Sing My Song’ and more.
Organiser Ciaran Brady says this is the “strongest” Friday line-up they have ever had, with Michael English making his festival debut.
On Saturday, festival goers will enjoy music by rising county music star David James, with his mixture of slow waltz tunes including ‘Don’t Take the Goodtimes for Granted’ and his lively and upbeat ‘My Donegal Doll’. The Donegal native will leave the stage to Mike Denver, with well-known classics such as ‘The Galway Girl’, ‘Whiskey In the Jar’ and ‘The Walk of Life’.
Meanwhile, Monaghan-based five-piece folk and country band One for the Road will make their welcome return to Mullahoran, followed by Johnny Brady, who will close the day on a lively note in what is sure to sell out the festival.
Organiser Ciaran Brady is expecting to welcome more than one thousand guests to the Mullahoran complex across the weekend, with numbers exceeding this figure last year.
“We have one of the best facilities in the country, I would say,” Ciaran remarks.
The bar marquee and dance floor are completely separate, meaning there is no mixing of dancers and drinkers.
“Those dancing can enjoy the hall for themselves, those there to enjoy a drink have the marquee and, weather permitting, the outdoors also.”
Meanwhile there are “multiple” restroom facilities and a space dedicated for campers in tents or caravans with shower and electricity facilities available. Ample parking is also available.
“It’s a very safe environment off the road so it’s an attractive place to be safety wise and enjoyment wise.”
After covering the cost of the festival itself, proceeds will go towards the Mullahoran GFC grounds and clubrooms.
The festival will take place at Mullahoran GAA grounds [N39YP49]. This is an over-18 event and ID will be required for entry. Tickets are on sale now and are expected to be in high demand. They can be purchased on ticketsource.com
