Government investment continues

Signs of long-term Government investment in Bailieborough are now becoming increasingly evident, according to local Minister Niamh Smyth.

"Housing remains one of the key priorities and I am delighted to see the Housing for All development at Páirc na Téile on the Kingscourt Road nearing completion. This high-quality development will deliver 45 new homes that will provide new opportunities for individuals and families seeking to establish themselves in Bailieborough," she said.

The Fianna Fáil minister also pointed to the €100,000 refurbishment of Bailieborough's playground to enhance the facility so "local children continue to enjoy a safe, modern and engaging recreational space for years to come".

Minister Smyth also pointed to funding for the Bexcourt Centre to develop two new dedicated sheds, one for the men and one for the women as a "transformative initiative" for the area

"These facilities will provide welcoming spaces where people of all ages can meet, learn new skills, combat social isolation and support their physical and mental wellbeing. They will foster creativity, personal development and stronger community connections in a positive and inclusive environment," she said.

Minister Smyth also welcomed substantial improvements to the Carer's Allowance means test.

The weekly income disregard will rise by 60%, to €1,000 for a single person or €2,000 for carers who are part of a couple. "This means that many more households will be able to retain their full Carer's Allowance while continuing to provide invaluable support to loved ones," she explained.
