IDA has three marketable sites across region

Cavan and Monaghan have three IDA Ireland sites with marketable land available in 2026.

New figures released by the Department for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment show that Cavan has a total of seven IDA holdings, including two investment-ready locations; while Monaghan has six holdings, with one marketable site.

The figures come as IDA Ireland continues to implement its five-year Adapt Intelligently strategy, under which 550 of 1,000 FDI investments are targeted for regional Ireland between 2025 and 2029.

Nationally, IDA Ireland has 279 holdings, of which 96 contain marketable land in 2026.

Within the wider Border region, by comparison, Donegal has four marketable sites, Leitrim four, Sligo three, and Louth has nine.

The latest figures follow the publication earlier this year of IDA Ireland's county-by-county site visit statistics, which showed that Cavan hosted two IDA-facilitated client site visits in 2025, down from four in 2024.

Monaghan also recorded two site visits in 2025, doubling from one the previous year.

By comparison during 2025, Louth recorded nine site visits; Sligo six; Donegal four; Roscommon and Longford had three each; Meath two, and Leitrim one.

Over the past decade, Cavan has generally experienced modest levels of investor visits, recording 27 site visits between 2016 and 2025; while Monaghan recorded 24 over the same period.
