Corduff and Doohamlet survive the drop

Corduff and Doohamlet have guaranteed their safety – for now – having won their respective relegation finals in the Monaghan SFL and IFL.

In Aughnamullen this evening, Corduff's blitzed Cremartin in the third quarter, scoring a goal and three unanswered two-pointers in five minutes after the break.

Having been level at half-time, Corduff made use of the wind in the second half and pulled away from Cremartin 1-20 to 0-15.

However, with the restructuring of the Monaghan club system this year, only one team will be relegated from Senior to Intermediate.

As such, Cremartin could still survive, pending future results later in the Championship.

Meanwhile, in the IFL, Doohamlet were comfortable winners against Eire Óg by 0-22 to 0-14 at Páirc Mhúire, Scotstown.

As was the case in the Senior final, the sides were level at half-time, but Doohamlet pulled away in the second half to record a comfortable victory.

Eire Óg aren't relegated just yet and will have a chance to redeem themselves and salvage their place in the division, through the Championship.

The full-time whistle has just blown in McKeown Park Drumhowan, where penalties were needed to separate the home side from Currin.

There was nothing to separate the teams at 1-15 to 2-12 at the end of normal time, and again at the end of a frantic extra-time; the sides were gridlocked, 1-20 to 3-14.

Drumhowan were the victors in the shootout and could be promoted in next week's final.

In the other semi-final, Toome were one-point winners over their local rivals, Blackhill, 1-13 to 1-12.

The sides were level with just two minutes of normal time remaining, but a late score for Toome was enough to see them through to the final.
