It is with regret that we report the following deaths in Counties Cavan and Monaghan, as recorded on RIP.ie within the past two days.

Noel Tierney

The death has occurred of Noel Tierney, Drumaharrid, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, H12 T322, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, 27th July 2026, after a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving wife Irene, son Noel Jnr and family. Pre-deceased by his parents Noel and Margaret and his brother Norbert.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Irene, son Noel Junior, brothers Fintan (Janet) and Declan (Monica), sister Gráinne (Michael), sister-in-law Brenda (Norbert R.I.P.), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, relatives, work colleagues, and good friends.

Reposing at his home today, Tuesday, from 2.00pm until 8.00pm. House private at all other times please.

Removal from his home on Wednesday, 29th July, at 1.30pm to St. Mary's Church, Ballyhaise, to arrive for Requiem Mass at 2.00pm, followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

At Noel's request, please wear bright colours, rather than mourning attire.

Those going to the family home are asked to observe a one way system, entering via the Ballyhaise side and exiting via the Butlersbridge side.

The death has occurred of

(Christopher) Mark Leslie (1952-2026)

Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, and Glaslough, Co. Monaghan

24th July, 2026. At home suddenly after a long illness borne with remarkable courage and dignity. Beloved father of Luke and Leah; his partner Ana Dolan, his former wife Cliona Manahan, cherished brother of Sean, Antonia, Wendyl, Samantha and Camilla; and son of the late Agnes Bernelle and Desmond Leslie.

Mark will be deeply missed by his much-loved cousins Leonie Finn, Tarka King and Ivan Mulcahy, his nephews and nieces, including Cian, Heather, William, Olivia, Brian, David, Lynn, Jane, Lola and Paolo, and his great-niece and great-nephew, Ruby Rose and Cóilín.

He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law Donal and Rowan Manahan, his sisters-in-law Marie and Nicol, and was predeceased by his sister-in-law Catherine. He is remembered with love by his lifelong friends Stephen Greenberg, Roger Willbourn, Steven Dizard, and Douglas Murray, as well as by his extended family, his exceptional neighbours and a wide circle of supportive friends.

The family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Dermatology and Neurology teams at St. Vincent's University Hospital, and to the staff of Sheehan Medical Practice, for the compassionate care and support they gave Mark over many years.

Peacefully at St. James Hospital, Dublin.

Predeceased by her husband Keith and her father Packie.

She will be sadly missed by her mother Dolly, daughter Joanne, son in law David, granddaughters Georgia and Madison, brother Pat (Anna), sister Suzanne (Joseph), nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at the premises of McElvaney Funeral Directors, Church Square , Monaghan on Thursday (30/07/2026) from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Removal on Friday (31/07/2026) at 10.30 a.m., arriving at St. Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan for funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Burial afterwards in St. Joseph's Old Cemetery, Latlurcan.
