Paul MacCormack: A Lifetime in Law

For 40 years, Paul MacCormack has provided trusted legal advice to individuals, families and businesses throughout County Monaghan from his native Castleblayney.

He attended St Macartan’s College before completing his degree at University College Dublin and his professional legal training with the Law Society of Ireland. He qualified as a solicitor in 1985 and spent a year practising in Drogheda, returning home in 1986 to join Corrigan and Coyle, where he became a partner in 1992. He went on to establish Paul MacCormack & Co Solicitors in 2016.

His practice covers conveyancing, wills and probate, estate administration, family law, personal injury litigation, employment matters, debt collection, commercial leases and civil litigation. He has particular experience in contested probate and proprietary estoppel cases, successfully representing clients in complex inheritance disputes.

Mr MacCormack remains passionate about the profession. “It’s a very enjoyable job. I wouldn’t be doing it unless I enjoyed it,” he said.

Despite the digital age, the solicitor says he still prefers more traditional methods when it comes to helping clients with legal issues. “I don’t even have a website. I don’t need one. We’re busy enough.”

Reflecting on modern technology, the veteran legal professional added: “There’s work that AI can’t do, but that would be the biggest change I’ve seen.”

The practice is supported by his wife, Regina, an accountant who specialises in probate administration; assistant solicitor John, who focuses on litigation and personal injury work; and administrative staff Lisa and Amanda.

Looking ahead, there may be a second generation of MacCormacks in the profession. His son, Enda, is completing his legal training at Blackhall Place after earning a degree in History and English.

After four decades in practice, Paul MacCormack continues to build his reputation on experience, integrity and personal service.
