Three arrests in crime crackdown

Three males have been arrested following a major Garda day of action targeting alleged organised criminal activity in the county.

Gardaí are investigating assaults on two men at Cullyleenan, Ballyconnell in the early hours of Sunday, August 2.

Two males (both aged in their 30s) were brought to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

At around 5.20pm on Wednesday, August 5 outside a commercial premises at Cullyleenan, a man aged in his 30s was assaulted. He was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries at Cavan General Hospital.

As part of their investigations, Gardaí carried out a search and arrest operation today, Friday, August 7 in West Cavan.

The operation involved 40 members from Cavan Community Engagement, Cavan Crime Function Area, supported by the Armed Support Unit.

Four addresses were searched and three men (aged in their 30s) were arrested.

They are being detained at stations in the Garda North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
