North West production companies call for permanent regional film incentive

Two award-winning Sligo-based screen production companies, Tri Moon Films and WaveWalker Films, have joined forces to call for a permanent 8% Regional Section 481 Uplift ahead of Budget 2027.

The additional tax incentive would apply to productions filmed outside the Dublin Metropolitan Area and Ashford corridor. The campaign is supported by Screen Producers Ireland, Ardán, Animation Ireland, Film in Limerick and the Western AV Forum.

The companies say the North West already has the talent, infrastructure and production experience needed to support a thriving screen industry, but greater policy support is required to create sustainable jobs and investment.

Tri Moon Films CEO Anna Mannion and WaveWalker Films CEO Edwin Mullane said a permanent uplift would give producers greater confidence to plan projects, hire locally and attract more productions to the region.

They argue that increased regional production could boost employment, economic growth and Ireland’s international screen profile, while helping build a sustainable industry across the country’s regions.
