Pizza place planned for former Cavan laundrette

A new pizza takeaway is proposed for Cavan Town, following a planning application in respect of the former Supaklene laundrette on Farnham Street.

Farrell Cafe Ltd has applied to Cavan County Council for permission to change the use of the ground-floor unit to a fast-food pizza takeaway. The proposed business would operate under the name Stone Mad Pizza.

The application includes proposed internal alterations to provide a public waiting area, cooking area, food preparation area, food storage, washing-up facilities, staff welfare facilities and a ventilation system.

Plans also provide for a new external door onto the Town Hall Street carpark at the rear, which would be used for deliveries only.

The application includes external signage and all associated ancillary site works.

An accompanying letter states that Farrell Café Ltd is working under the guidance of an established platform of stone-baked pizza businesses in Ireland. The company says it will receive recipes and expertise, as well as staff training, at the established premises before the business opens.

The outlet will operate as a collection and delivery service for the surrounding local area. There would be no seating provided at the premises.

The applicant also states that the proposed takeaway would not operate during school hours, with the aim of preventing disturbance to traffic flow in the area.

Farrell Cafe Ltd was established in 2017 and has a registered address at Swellan, Cavan Town.

A decision on the application is due on or before October 1.
