Carrick and Carhaix to celebrate 30 years of twinning

Carrickmacross and its twin town of Carhaix in Brittany, France, are preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their twinning partnership with a series of events in October.

The twinning charter, which formally linked the two towns, was granted in 1996 and has helped foster strong friendships and exchanges between the communities over the past three decades. Celebrations will begin in Carhaix on October 10, when the Mayor of Carhaix will host a reception for visiting Carrickmacross MD councillors and members of the Carrickmacross Twinning Committee. The visit will also include a traditional Breton celebration. The festivities will continue later in the month when Carrickmacross Municipal District welcomes a delegation from Carhaix for a civic reception.

Meanwhile, the Carrickmacross Twinning Committee will hold its AGM in the Shirley Arms Hotel on Monday, September 28, as plans are discussed for activities in 2027.
