Camógs pick up big win in Tyrone

Cavan 2-8
Tyrone 0-7

In what were near perfect conditions, the Cavan senior camogie team travelled to Greencastle, Co Tyrone for the first away game of the Littlewoods National Camogie League in Division 3.

In windy conditions referee Eamonn Cassidy from Derry got the game under way. Cavan started well and were playing against the wind and three mins into the game Cavan got on to the score board with a point from Sinead McKenna, followed by a goal by her Crosserlough clubmate Hannah Boylan with just seven mins played.

The Breffni girls continued to push on and Orla Smith added two more points to leave Cavan in front by three, 1-3 to 0-3, at the break.

Cavan started the second half with much more fight in them. All over the field, the Cavan players pushed on with the wind at their backs and with Sinead McKenna adding points to the board along with Drumgoon's Caoimhe Clarke,  Cavan were now  leading 1-7 to 0-3.

The Red Hands, playing against the wind, gained scores but Cavan’s Orla Smith added to her tally when she hit the netto make it 2-7 to 0-5. With nearly 10 minutes left, Sinead McKenna put the sliotar over the bar and Tyrone's late two point flurry had consolation written all over them as Cavan ran out deserving seven-point winners.

Cavan now play Wicklow on March 15 and are at home to Offaly two weeks later.
