Arena - Death of former Cavan footballer Donal Meade

The death on Wednesday September 10 of Donal Meade who played for Cuchulainns and Cavan for a number of years was received with widespread regret throughout the county but particularly in Cross and Mullagh. After attending college in Belfast he developed into a top-class player and was immediately recognised as a player of real talent. He played for Cavan in the seventies and was involved in a number of important GAA games especially in the Ulster championship, either at midfield or in attack. The funeral took place on Monday last from St Mary"s Church, Cross to Raffoney cemetery. Many of his teammates from Cuchulainns and former Cavan teams formed a Guard of Honour.
