Pink n' Gold Triathlon set for Sunday

This weekend's Attracta Doherty Memorial Pink n’ Gold Triathlon, now in its eighth year, promises to be another wonderful event. An event established in 2010 in memory of breast cancer patient Attracta Doherty, and to raise funds to benefit cancer patients and their families. 

This year the event will commence at Halton's Amenity Park in Cootehill on this Sunday, September 24 at 2pm.
Since its foundation and through their fund-raising efforts, they have assisted 18 families, and donated to Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care Service; Little Jake Fund; Bailieborough, Cootehill and Virginia Cancer Care Groups; Meath Hospice and Palliative Care Service; Conor Foley Neuroblastoma Fund and St. Vincent’s Oncology Ward, Mater Hospital. 
This year’s event is in aid of ‘Erica’s Fairy Forest’, the very special community project created to remember a young cancer patient Erica. Since opening, the fairy forest has been a place of great family enjoyment.
Competitors will range from the country’s top triathletes, cyclists, runners and walkers, and family participation is very much encouraged. “This year we are indeed privileged and very proud that a young Cork man, Kevin Donovan has chosen The Pink n’ Gold event to complete and celebrate the finish of his incredible ’32 County Run Challenge’,” says Kevin Doherty.
Kevin embarked on his ‘run challenge’ in January of this year in memory of his father. He is only two counties away from achieving his target of racing in each of the 32 counties. Setting out in January of this year, his last two races will be Mayo and Cavan.
There are categories to cater for all levels of fitness: 750m Triathlon, 400m Try a Tri, Cycle and Run, 5k Run and Walk.
