Comic trio take over Café Sessions
'We usually try to make you smile at Café Sessions but this week we aim to make you laugh,' says co-host Joe Keenan of Thursday’s comedy night at Chapter 1.
The night brings together a trio of the country’s up-and-coming stand-ups - Alison Spittle, Trevor Browne and Edwin Sammon. The charming Kevin McGahern, who will take on the MC duties for the night, is pals with the three acts and believes the Café Session crowd are in for a good night.
'Trevor and Edwin I met when I first started a few years ago,' says Kevin. 'I’ve always enjoyed watching them gig and never get tired of them.
'Alison Spittle I only just met in the last year or so, but I immediately found her hilarious and it wasn’t long before I became ‘addicted to Spittle’.'
Trevor comes off the back of three Edinburgh solo shows, which were well received.
'Actual tears there were, actual tears running down this critic’s actual face; this show is terrific,' gushed one actual critic.
Trevor was also a So You Think You’re Funny semi-finalist and Magners Comedy Festival Best Act finalist. His style varies from surreal one-liners to musical comedy and he has played at every major musical and comedy festival in Ireland with 2012 highlights including Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit and the Galway Comedy Festival.
In 2013, Trevor will be taking part in the upcoming RTE Show ‘The RTE Comedy Awards’ and releasing his first comedy album on iTunes.
Edwin is the winner of the 2011 Toilet Duck Award - a comedy competition that takes place at TedFest every year.
'You might remember him as the Professor in The Man Who Slipped on the Ice,' says Kevin of the brilliant YouTube mock-doc (you have to watch it).

'He’s just a very funny bald man with a big hairy beard. If youre in the mood for some Offaly surrealism, Ed’s your man.'
Blue Valentines presents ‘A Night Of Comedy’ at Café Sessions in Chapter 1 on Thursday, March 14, at 8pm. The show is assisted by Cavan Co Council’s Arts Awards.
