Cavan horticulturalist set for RTÉ's Super Garden
A Cavan horticulturalist is set to appear on tonight's episoide of RTÉ's Super Garden.
The brand new series returned to the nation's television screens last week, kickstarting a showdown between five budding garden designers battling it out to secure a coveted show garden spot at Ireland's premier garden festival, Bord Bia’s 'Bloom’ in 2021.
Dublin-native Tara Kate Linnane, who now lives and gardens on her own patch near Kilnaleck was one of those chosen to apply their green-fingered imagination at a new housing development in a small village in North County Dublin, home to this year's Super Garden competition.
Tara, who writes as the Gourmet Gardener with The Anglo-Celt, and her four fellow competitors were each given an identical garden as their blank canvas to create their entry.
Speaking to the Celt, Tara said the chance to appear on the show was a “dream come true.”
“I really loved every minute of it,” says Tara, who put her “whole heart” into the design as she worked on the project over a three week period.
“I'm such a big fan of the TV show, and have been for years, so it was such an honour to be chosen as well, and I'm just delighted they picked me.”
Last week, episode one, saw Dermot Melia from neighbouring Co. Meath, a ninth generation horticulturist with a background in landscaping, transformed homeowner Nicola Clancy's garden into a whimsical, low maintenance, social place to enjoy with her twin boys Tristan and Reuben (10).
The Super Gardener's work is judged by a panel of three- Gary Graham, Manager of Bord Bia's 'Bloom’; Brian Burke, a previous winner of Super Garden representing Woodie's on the judging panel; and Monica Alvarez, returning for her fourth year as the Dulux Exteriors representative, having previously served as a mentor on the show in 2016.
The series continues tonight, Thursday, May 28 at 8pm on RTÉ One.
