Opportunity to buy Co. Cavan pig farms

Property Partners Quinn Bros. have been instructed by receiver Declan Taite, Head of Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency at FGS Financial advisors, to market and sell five different pig farms, four of which are in south Cavan, and one in Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow. 'The farms represent a superb opportunity for a start-up operation or business expansion,' according to the selling agents. Finaway Farm in Ballyjamesduff is a pig fattening farm with capacity for approximately 5,400 production pigs on a total land holding of circa 28 acres. Sheelin Farm, also in Ballyjamesduff, is a pig rearing facility with capacity for approximately 1,250 sows on a total land holding of circa 31.38 acres. Not too far from Sheelin Farm is a small pig fattening farm on just over two acres at Duffcastle. This farm has a capacity for fattening approximately 600 production pigs. The fourth farm in Cavan is Finnea Farm on circa 8 acres, a big breeding facility with a capacity of circa 800 sows. Raheen farm, outside Dunlavin in County Wicklow, is a pig fattening farm with capacity for fattening approximately 5,000 production pigs. This farm is on circa 29 acres of ground. There is the possibility that up to 23 acres of this maybe sold separately, but this would be determined by quantity of land required by potential purchasers of the pig farm. County Cavan is currently the biggest pig producing county in Ireland, ahead of Counties Cork and Tipperary - the three counties representing 52% of the national sow herd. The selling agents are putting the properties up for sale by private treaty and are not publicly quoting a guide price for the farms but emphasise that 'the reserve for the farms will be set at a realistic level to sell'. Jonathan Quinn from Property Partners Quinn Bros., 51 Main Street, Longford is handling the sale and can be contacted at 043-3346237 or jquinn@quinnbros.ie.
