Annual Christmas Party
The annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party was held in the Pikers Lodge Gowna on Sunday evening last. Music was by the affable Dessie Ronan and with party-pieces galore from the floor a most enjoyable evening was had by the older and not so old folk. The function was organized by the local St. Vincent De Paul Society and a word of thanks to the members and also to the staff of the Pikers Lodge for their hospitality.
First Communion
The nine children from the local National School who are preparing for First Communion took part in a Ceremony of Commitment at 11 am Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran, on Sunday last. The children are being prepared for the Sacrament by Mrs. Mairead McKeogh.
New Cardinal
Prayers were offered at weekend Masses for Archbishop Sean Brady on his elevation to the College of Cardinals in Rome last weekend. We join with the people of Cavan and especially Laragh parish of which he is a native, in extending our congratulations and good wishes for good health and guidance in the future.
Weather
The remarkable dry mild weather of early November continues apart from a slight interruption last week which brought a touch of winter. Farmers are especially pleased as some cattle have not yet been housed following one of the most agreeable harvests for many years.
Healing Mass
A Family Tree Healing Mass will be offered in the Holy Trinity Abbey, Kilnacrott, on Friday November 30th at 8 pm. Holy water, oil and salt will be blessed and the celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Smith. For further information contact 049.4336291.

Pastoral Council
The parish is in the process of electing a new Pastoral Council and nomination forms have been distributed. Names for election will be announced next weekend and voting papers should be returned the following weekend. It is hoped to have the new Council in place by Christmas.
U-16 Ladies
There were joyous scenes following the triumph of the local u-16 ladies over Knockbride in the final in Breffni Park recently. This was a victory well deserved following an excellent team display and we congratulate the girls on a star performance. The team were – Niamh Brennan, Shiela Reilly, Donna McGahern, Kerrie Byrne, Aine Reilly, Edel Mcgahern, Mona Sheridan, Bernadine Brady, Kate Smith, Sarah Comiskey, Aoifa Mcgahern, Shauna Wilson, Geraldine Sheridan.
Ulster Final success
We extend our congratulations to Ballinagh GFC on winning the Ulster Intermediate final on Sunday last. Listening to Michael Tynan's commentary on Northern Sound it appeared that the side were well in control from early with some fine displays from their younger players contributing greatly to their win. Well done to local star Julie Ann Sheridan who supported Michael on the air.
Nancy Smith
Sympathy is extended to the Smith family, Garrymore, Ballinagh, on the death of their mother Nancy recently. Deceased was a member of the Wall family and the older folk will recall Walls pub on Main St. [now Cronin's] which was a regular half-way house for locals on the way home from Cavan.
Christmas Choral Concert
A celebration Concert will take place on Saturday. 15th December at 8.30 pm sharp in St. Mel's cathedral, Longford, when the Longford Choir invites us to enter into the true spirit of Christmas by attending their Christmas Carol Concert. There will also be a short programme of Brahms Love Songs. In addition to this being an enjoyable experience any proceeds will be donated to Trocaire for their work in Darfur. Tickets E15 available at door. The choir, which includes some members of the Mullahoran choir, will also perform on RTE on Christmas Eve at 6.30.
Annual general meeting of Mullahoran GFC
The AGM of the local GFC will take place this Friday night in the Sports complex at 8 pm. and all are welcome. Please bring any §50 ticket blocks and money to the meeting.

Presentation Night for All-Ireland Rounders Winners
A presentation will be held in the Hideaway Bar, Cloncivid, at 10pm on Sat 1st of December in honour of the All-Ireland Champions from the Erne Eagles Rounders Club This year the Mullahoran based rounders club won an unprecedented three All-Ireland titles at Senior Men, Senior Women and Minor Men level. The presentation will celebrate the Senior Women's first GAA All-Ireland title, the Senior Men's tenth year as national champions and the Minor Men's second successive All-Ireland win. Music by Pete Lewis. All support will be greatly appreciated.
