Longford Rural Transport The service is available in North and South Longford with a total of 17 routes. FTP holders travel free. We would encourage more participation in your region, and to make people more aware, there will be updated timetables distributed to all local shops, Post Offices and Community Halls/Group. Longford Agricultural Show takes place on Saturday 26th July, in Clonkeen, Moydow and there will be a free shuttle bus service from the Market Square Longford all day. Dyslexia Workshop For those with learning difficulty/ dyslexia an intervention programme for primary and post primary students. Enrolment takes place in August and classes resume in September. Cemetery Sunday On 27th July Mass will be celebrated for the faithful departed in Abbeylara Cemetery at 11am followed by blessing of the graves. Everyone is encouraged to tidy up their family graves for the occasion. Grandard: Sunday 3rd August is the date of Cemetery Sunday and weather permitting Mass will be celebrated in Granardkille at 5pm. Monster Auction In Lynch Park, Abbeylara on Saturday 26th July with viewing from 11.30am and auction commencing at noon. There will be old farm machinery, antique furniture, household goods, jewellery, new clothes, books, toys, electrical items, building materials, bales of silage, turf and firewood. Kiernan Milling Good news from Kiernan Milling as it announced a major investment in a new animal feed mill on the Ballinalee road, Granard. The company employs 85 people. We wish it success for the future. Eucharist Day of Renewal On Saturday 16th August in Kilnacrott Abbey from 9am-4pm. Speakers include Sr. Briege McKenna OSC, Fr. Kevin Scallon, Dr. Mark Mirevalle Anne a lay apostolate and her spiritual director Fr. Darragh Connolly. The consist of Mass, Talks, Rosary, confession Holy Hour and Procession of the Blessed Sacrament at 3pm. PTAA THE Leinster finals of the Pioneer Sports will take place in St. Fenian"s College, Mullingar on Saturday 30th August. Registration 11am-noon. Entry fee €4 per competitor. All Ireland Qualifiers Longford bowed out of the qualifiers on Saturday evening last to Laois with a final score 1.10 to 11 pts. Following the defeat Luke Dempsey announced his departure from the management committee of the Longford Senior team. MABS An adviser from the Money Advice and Budgeting Service attends at the offices of Granard Area Action Group, Main Street, Granard each Monday morning from 11.30am to 12.30pm. EDI Staff from the Employment, Development and Information Centre attend on Tuesday afternoons 2-4pm. Aneta, a Polish interpreter, also attends this information service for the Polish community in the area. Please note this service will be on holidays Tuesday 29th July, Tuesday 12th August and Tuesday 19th August. Citizens Information An information officer from Citizens Information is in attendance at the Granard Area Action Group office each Thursday morning from 10.30am-12.30pm. No appointment necessary.
