Julie-Ann McKiernan, Blaithin McCormack and Leah Heaslip bring three very different Marys to the Gonzo stage.

Gonzo to host a Christmas cracker

This Christmas, the Gonzo Theatre are offering three nights of Christmas comedy with 'A Christmas Carol' topping the quality bill. This not to be missed show - which is aimed at adults - features two of Ireland's finest young actors, Bryan Burroughs, and Cavan's Aaron Monaghan. The pair have reworked and condensed the Dickens' classic, each taking on a host of characters for what promises to be a memorable event. If that's not worth the admission fee alone, the bill will be shared with two one act plays 'Three Marys of Christmas' written by Philip Doherty and 'Santa Claus Blues' by Ger McNaughton. Three Marys is three versions of the nativity from three different ages. "I'm trying to contrast the three Christmases: the original one, what it was like in Catholic Ireland, and post-Celtic Tiger with lost youths caught up in the boozed-up culture that we have," explains Philip Doherty, who also directs the show.
