Castlerahan through to first final in 43 seasons

CASTLERAHAN produced a top-class performance to defeat Belturbet by 1-8 to 1-4 in the semi-final of the Cavan senior football championship at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday evening last. There was no doubt about the merits of Castlerahan's win as they had control for much of the sixty plus minutes. This victory by the Ballyjamesduff-based side ranks with a similar achievement in 1968, the last time the club reached the senior final against Crosserlough, who were then in the throes of creating their seven-in a row record.
