Ryan Sheridan to headline Cavan Summer Festival
Quash all the rumours and dismiss the speculation. It's official! Cavan Summer Festival and International Hen Weekend have announced that the popular annual event will take place this June running from the 15 to the 17. Ryan Sheridan is to headline the festival on Friday night, June 15 and set the tone for what's hoped will be a wonderful festival weekend in Cavan town. Hens will once again flock to Cavan to take part in Cavan International Hen Weekend with a stunning €10,000 cash prize up for grabs for one lucky bride to be! News of this once-a-year, mega hen weekend has spread nationwide with fantastic feedback coming from all over the country, according to organiser Linda O'Reilly. "It is no mean feat to start a festival from scratch and we have worked very hard over the last two years to make it a success and we are delighted to say it has gained a fantastic reputation both locally and across the country," she told the 'Celt this week. Over 500 girls from all over Ireland and from the UK took part in last year's Hen Weekend with an estimated 30,000 people visiting the town during the festival. In previous years, publicans had to raise in the region of €100,000 to stage the event and provide entertainment over the course of the weekend. The scale of the event and the funding behind it has yet to be revealed, though it's understood that the popular street pageant will not form part of this year's festival. However, further details of the weekend's extensive line-up of entertainment will be announced shortly or check back with www.henweekend.ie or the Facebook page. So get ready for the summer and some sizzling good times in Cavan town this summer as festival fever hits the streets ahead of the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in August.
