Clonfin Commemoration
The annual commemoration of Clonfin Ambush will take place on Sunday 3rd February on the site at Clonfin. Eugene McGee well known for his contribution to the social, journalistic and sport life of Co. Longford will give the address. All are welcome to attend. A good turn out will be much appreciated.

Costs involved in retiring from farming; Stamp Duty; Installation Aid. Off Farm Employment. Alternative Farm enterprises. All farm families and rural dwellers are welcome to attend and meet with Ann on a one to one basis. No appointment necessary.

Is a new and free Helpline Service for Senior Adults in Co. Longford aged 65 and older. Telephone calls are made to Older People on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30a.m. To 1.00p.m. Senior Adults who wish to avail of the service will receive a telephone call at a time decided by them, to ensure they are safe and well in their own home and to help with any concerns they might have. If you are a Senior Adult in Co.Longford who could benefit from this phone call, please contact Breedge -Helpline Operator at 043-49678. Calls will be dealt with in the strictest confidence. Also we are looking to expand the number of Volunteer Operators at present, if you are interested in volunteering please contact Sean at 043-45555.

Best wishes to Northern Gaels who play Killoe in the Minor League Division1 final on this Saturday at 3.00p.m. The first round of the Allianz National League Division 3 for Longford takes place on Sunday in Wexford Park against the home side. We wish the team and management all the best. The postponed final of the O'Byrne Cup final is now expected to take place on Saturday 9th February.

The annual Race Night night organised by the Dublin branch members of the club takes place in the Rathmines Inn in Dublin on Friday 22nd February. Race cards are now available. An information officer from Co. Longford Citizens Information Service attends the office each Thursday morning from 10a.m. to 12a.m. If you require help on your entitlements on Employment Rights, Health, Housing, Social Welfare, Tax, Education, Agriculture, Insurance, Finance and Consumer Issues call in and gain information on any of these issues. No appointment necessary.
Granard Traditional Harp Festival
The launch of the Traditional Harp Festival took place on Monday night in Hourican's Hotel, Granard. The competitions tak placee from 27th to 30th March this year.

Recent Deaths
Sympathy is extended to family and friends of the late John Madden, Sallaghan, Gowna, Co. Cavan who died last week. John was a well known ploughman throughout Ireland and had a keen interest in vintage ploughs. He took part in all the local competitions with his team of horses and represented Cavan in numerous All Ireland Ploughing competitions as well as competing in England and Scotland. His funeral took place on Wednesday last in Gowna. May he rest in peace.
