Cool, blustery, showery day

Today will be a cool and blustery day with showers and longer spells of rain at times but also some sunny spells. The latest weather forecast from Met Éireann is giving for highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty mainly northerly wind

It will be chilly and breezy overnight with clear spells and showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in fresh to strong northwest winds.

Fresh and breezy conditions are forecast for tomorrow (Friday) with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will become increasingly isolated later in the day. Top temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in fresh northwest breezes.

Friday night will bring outbreaks of rain, which will affect parts of Munster and Connacht with lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees. Dry, cold and mostly clear across much of Ulster and Leinster with minimum temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees. Winds will be light, varying in direction.

Patchy rain in the southwest is expected to clear on Saturday to leave a mostly dry day across the country with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Top temperatures ranging 11 to 15 degrees in moderate northeast breezes. It looks set to be dry and mostly clear on Saturday night. Turning cold with some frost possible as minimum temperatures range 1 to 5 degrees in light winds. Some mist and fog also.

It is expected to be predominantly dry on Sunday but becoming rather cloudy across the western half of the country with scattered patches of rain. Further east it looks set to be mainly dry with some sunny spells. Turning milder with highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in moderate southwest breezes. On Sunday night some patchy rain and drizzle will push eastwards over the country and with some more persistent rain possible in the northwest. Minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Current indications for Monday suggest a band of persistent rain will extend across the country with a clearance to sunny spells and isolated showers following from the northwest later on. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with moderate southwest breezes veering northwesterly with the passage of the rain-band. A mostly dry night is expected with lows of 6 to 9 degrees.

Looking ahead to Tuesday and early indications suggest it will begin dry before a further spell of rain moves in from the west later in the day.
