Don't just get out, but let loose and dance to the sound of some great country music. The Perfect Christmas Gift Gala Country Concert takes place next Monday, January 18. A ticket or two was, indeed, the perfect gift for many, but limited places remain so the advice from the Lavey Inn is to book yours now. The line-up includes some of the top names in Ireland's country and easy-listening music scene: Robert Mizzell, Mick Flavin, Susan McCann, Patrick Feeney, Kathy Durkin and Liam Mannering. There will also be laughs, courtesy of comedian Frank Forde, and MC is Owen McConnon. The stars Born in Louisiana in the US, Robert Mizzell now lives near Mullingar. Robert served in the US Army, and after several jobs, event's in Robert's life took him to Ireland. Once there he decided to pursue his dream. He has made his home in Ireland for over a decade and is now one of the top country artists here. He puts on an energy filled show brimming with country flavour. Mick Flavin, the man they call the King of Country, has been entertaining audiences for fifteen years. In those fifteen years he has developed a unique relationship with his audience. He knows a lot of fans by name and many have been 'Travellin' to Flavin' since it all began. Ireland's first lady of country music Susan McCann has enjoyed over a quarter of a century as an international star. It was her second release, Big Tom Is Still The King, which took her to number one in the Irish pop charts in May 1977. Up to then Susan did not want to travel any further than a 60-mile radius of her Co. Down home. The success of that song changed all that forever! Patrick Feeney, the young singing sensation originally from Co. Sligo was sure he was going to be the farmer of the house. But as Patrick was growing up he was learning to play the drums and keyboards and it was obvious he had an interest in music, just like his father who was also a musician! He has recorded five CDs to date, all of which portray his unique voice. A native of Co. Cavan, Kathy Durkin is one of Ireland's leading female entertainers and recording artistes. Her voice has been described as being distinctively Irish, being both strong and of great clarity. Kathy came from a very musical family. Her late father Eugene Leddy, a talented fiddle player, had one of the most successful ceilí bands in Ireland in the 50s and 60s. Kathy has had a prolific output of singles and albums during her career. Liam Mannering was born in Dunboyne in Meath, where he still lives. He has embarked on a career in country music with his own four-piece band of talented and experienced musicians. Frank Forde has performed in theatres, clubs, hotels, cruise ships, corporate events, television, radio and across the Continent.
