A hundred days and counting until the Fleadh
How else would you celebrate the forthcoming Fleadh than having a massive ceili in the street? Organisers will host a feast of music in Cavan Town's Market Square on Tuesday, May 1 to mark 100 days to go until festivities get underway. Local musician and the face of the Fleadh, Martin Donohoe, will be on hand with music students young and old from his classes in the Farnham and Imperial. Organisers of the 100 day countdown celebration are issuing an open invitation to any and all to come down and get involved. Starting at 5.30pm, it is hoped as many people as possible will come along to the Square to mark the momentous countdown occasion and, as they say themselves "get the town, get the county and get the country talking about it". "If you play a tune, or can play an instrument, even dance a jig we're inviting you to come down to the Square and celebrate the upcoming Fleadh. It's only 100 days until it's upon us, the Fleadh is just around the corner," said Marian Smith, one of the organisers.
