Cavan will begin the hunt for a new senior team manager as soon as possible following Mickey Graham’s resignation on Monday evening last, with a sub-committee to be appointed.

County chairman Kieran Callaghan led the tributes to the Cavan Gaels clubman.

“I wish to thank him for his commitment to Cavan GAA over the last five years, he really brought things to a new level with his professionalism and dedication to the cause,” Callaghan told the Anglo-Celt yesterday (Tuesday).

“He will never be forgotten for bringing us to the Ulster title in 2020.

“The commitment for a county manager nowadays is just unbelievable and he really gave it his all, he gave it everything for the last five years in a very professional manner and I couldn’t thank him enough on behalf of the clubs of Cavan for all he has done.”

Callaghan confirmed that the selection process will get underway immediately.

“We will be setting up a sub-committee to oversee the process and ultimately the appointment of a new manager. It will be open for clubs to nominate candidates and the committee will also explore all options.”

Cavan are also on the look-out for a new U20 manager. Four candidates were nominated at Monday’s meeting, namely Brian Donohoe, Donal Keogan, Keelan Melaniff and Larry Reilly.
